It’s something you’ve definitely thought about, and if not well we’re going to discuss it now. Micronutrients are probably the hardest thing about keto, getting all your proper macros in while staying keto is virtually impossible. 

What are micronutrients?

Just like their big brother Macronutrients, micronutrients are vital to the bodies well-being but as the name implies require a much smaller consumption to ensure you are in top top shape. There are two things which comprise all micronutrients, Vitamins and Minerals. 

The former being essential organic nutrients which the body isn’t that great at producing and the latter being inorganic nutrients which are also tough to produce, both of these can be obtained by eating of course. However it’s become evident to me that to actually obtain all of your micronutrients you would have to consume an ungodly amount of food.

Immediately my mind goes to science, obviously with an entire billion dollar health industry I can’t be the only one who’s come to this conclusion and of course there must be someone who then took that conclusion and said I want to make money from this. So I began to search, I even reached out to some friends who are much more versed in pharmaceuticals then me. 

Several hours of research and chats later…

Unfortunately the answer I got from them was that the general consensus is that multi-vitamins are fucking garbage and one of the industries biggest scams. 

The reasons for that are numerous and I won’t get into them here as that could be it’s whole own article, however that didn’t stop me from believing that someone out there in this planet has created a supplement that isn’t a pile of garbage and truly ticks every box required for that RDI.

So I decided to start from the opposite end of the chain, I thought to myself who regulates all of these drugs if so many are being put on shelves with sub-par ingredients and flat out lies. That’s when I discovered the holy grail of standards. Australia’s very own TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration). They are the cream of the crop when it comes to standards, and boy did they lead me straight to the gold.

After looking at the companies they have given their seal of approval to that produce the product we’re after, I was led to THORNE. These guys are the real fucking deal, a look at their “No” List right away shows how high their standards are. 

I’m not going to dive into their methods as it’s simply not even necessary, the Australian TGA seal of approval is justification for the products merits. Of course nothing is perfect so as this is going to be my solution to hitting my micronutrient needs, I will eventually update this page with the results of me testing it. 

I’ve spoken with my doctor and had a micronutrient test and after a month of taking these I will be doing a Micronutrient Test again to confirm or debunk the results myself. However I feel absolutely confident about Thorne and am already using their Multi-Vitamin elite and will be reporting back shortly!

That was Day 11, Well we figured out that we’re kind of fucked no matter what when it comes to micro nutrients, it’s absolutely impossible to tick all the boxes naturally thus the only option is some form of supplement. I’ll be testing out Thorne Research and hopefully they work out perfect otherwise back to the drawing board!
