#1 You need a
I don’t want to waste any of your time we’ll have 21 days to get to know each other while you progress on your journey, but before you start I want to make sure you are fully prepared for what is to come and that means having the right equipment.
The Kitchen Scale
If you are on a budget a simple mechanical one will do (It’s what I started with too don’t worry!) it’s not as precise as a digital scale but it will get the job done. It’s incredibly easy to over eat and ultimately the calories count.
You can help support this website by purchasing your scale through one of the amazon affiliate links below or clicking the picture! It’ll cost the same as a regular amazon purchase but a small slice goes to supporting this website. No hard feelings if you hit up WalMart and grab one instead though not everyone likes to order from amazon I totally understand that :).
#2 You will get the
It sucks trust me, there will be a brief period of a few days where you will feel like you caught a cold without any of the icky symptoms. This is honestly going to be a beacon of hope for you though, it means you are on the right track.
If you think you can’t handle it make sure you are off work.
I’ll let you know in a future email how many days away from the Keto flu you are and will even send an email on the day it should be kicking in so you know if you are on track. If you don’t want to deal with being at work feeling like garbage book the Flu days off ahead of time.
You honestly will be absolutely fine, but I’ve heard from so many people starting keto that they were genuinely afraid of the “Keto Flu”. Trust me when I say it’s not bad you’ve had colds before you know what it feels like it sucks but it goes away. Worry not it will pass and it’s a sign of progress!
#3 You will have major
Having spent your entire life eating carbs as a normal daily meal, it’s going to feel weird as fuck not having them. You will be hyper sensitive to the smells of bread pasta all that stuff for the first few weeks, the key to regulating these cravings is building your diet in a way that you have spare carbs to have a carby snack every day.
Personally I save 20 carbs in my diet for snacks.
What that means is depending on my craving, I can eat a couple sour cola candies or some nacho chips with cheese at my work. Believe me when I say this will be one of the biggest factors in you sticking to the diet, often times when we are craving something it’s actually our desire for minerals.
More often than not the craving will absolutely disappear for me after that tiny snack, the days I absolutely must have sugar I eat a few sour candies and because I’m not used to eating them not only is it SUPER delicious, but it nips the craving in the butt without knocking you out of ketosis.
#4 Your friends will talk
Recall on a time when you had an idea and you told someone about it, you’ve definitely had the unfortunate experience of them shooting it down calling it stupid or even mocking you for thinking it will work.
Keto works, it’s science fuck what they say
If you lived your life appeasing all the people around you who would you really be? Definitely not yourself, when I started Keto I was told by so many different people that it’s a stupid idea, it’s dangerous, blah blah blah.
Stay focused and prove them wrong, the evidence is clear that Ketosis is real and absolutely works as a great weight loss method. I don’t care what your boyfriend says, or your mom says or your co-worker, believe in yourself and ignore the naysayers it will be hard hard but you will succeed.
#5 Write down your goal, and why
I am a firm believer in visual messages and the power of writing something down. Ask yourself what am I doing this for? Don’t judge yourself for the answer, if you want to get skinny so guys like you more who cares?
If it motivates you, that is all that matters. FUEL YOUR FIRE
People all have different motivations, personally I want to look like Adonis if you don’t know him he was so handsome the Goddess Artemis and Aphrodite fought over him. It’s a stupid almost comical goal, but it works.
Your reason will be the thing that keeps you from eating that Mc Donalds burger and instead mowing down on some avocado and bacon. You may fail, you may cheat, but as long as you keep that goal, that VISION in your mind the flame will re-light and you will succeed. Just remember that.
That was Day 0, tomorrow you embark on your Keto journey. Keep an eye on your email inbox for tomorrow’s message. Tomorrow we will be doing a bit of grocery shopping and goal defining. I’ll see you then 🙂
